Getting to KAMPOT

Kampot Bus station to Kep

From Phnom Penh to Kampot

Road
The most direct route to Kampot from Phnom Penh, National Route #3 (NR3,) has been under construction for a couple of years, making alternative routes preferable. But the construction is now complete. The full length of NR3 is now in very good condition - paved and quite wide in most places. The trip down NR3 can be made in less than 3 hours.

Taxis
~30,000R/person for a shared taxi. ~$40-$45 for a private taxi. 3 hours. In Phnom Penh, Kampot-bound taxis depart Phsar Dumkor. In Kampot taxis depart the taxi stand.

Bus
There are several bus companies offering regular a/c buses between Phnom Penh and Kampot including Phnom Penh Sorya. In Phnom Penh the Phnom Penh Sorya buses depart from the station on Charles de Gaulle, next to the Central Market. In Kampot, the buses arrive/depart from the bus stand (see map). Tickets can be purchased there or through your hotel/guesthouse (~13,000-14,000R).

From Kampot to Kep
The road from Kampot to Kep is paved, smooth and picturesque. It’s a 25km, 30-45 minute trip from Kampot though scenic Cambodian countryside.

From Kampot, follow the Road 33 east to the White Horse Monument intersection. (Stop in at Salt & Pepper Bakery next to the monument for a coffee and cake.) Bear right. At the next main turnoff (a small roundabout with a Vishnu statue,) turn right onto the oceanfront road to go to the Crab Market or continue straight past to Kep Beach. **Motorcyclists be aware of some uneven pavement and invisible humps in the tarmac on Road 33.

Motodups from Kampot start at about $3-$4 one way and $8-$10 round trip. Tuk-tuks run about $8-$15 for a round trip depending how long you spend in Kep and number of passengers.
